Fernando Lucas Ruiz studied the Biochemistry Bachelor degree at the University of Murcia. From 2015 to 2020 he completed his PhD in the Experimental Ophthalmology group at the University of Murcia, focusing on the study of the neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory processes of retinal ganglion cells after the optic nerve axotomy. In 2021 he joined the Molecular Inflammation group at the Biomedical Research Institute of Murcia, where he investigated the mechanisms of pyroptosis activation through the NLRP3 inflammasome. Since 2022 he is part of the INIMS and his research focuses on uncovering the neuronal death pathways that occur in MS, as well as on the study of the neurodegenerative processes that occur in the retina during MS disease.
