Freya Hesse is a medical student at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). As a member of the research group of Dr. Sina Rosenkranz(INIMS), she is currently conducting the experimental part of her MD thesis (as of September 2025) in the Wrann Lab at the Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC), Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Harvard Medical School, Boston, under the supervision of Prof. Christiane Wrann. Since April 2025, she has been a fellow of the Hertie Foundation’s medMS doctoral program. Her doctoral research investigates the neuroprotective effects of the exerciseinduced myokine irisin with regard to its potential as a novel therapeutic approach in multiple sclerosis.
